the basin – day 435

hitching a ride with mom – be kind, stay safe, be well

take care and kindness with you always.

Canada geese and goslings
the stalker with gulls – the swan was after the goslings – the swan takes a good photo but is one mean bird

  1. Oh, it was a wonderful morning on the beach! Very much enjoyed watching the Kingfisher babies darting after their Mom (is it a Kingfisher?) and I was happy to see that the goslings are still a good numbered bunch, despite Romeo’s murderous attacks. Glad you got a shot, Cathy, I was cursing leaving my phone behind.

    • the Kingfisher it is not, but Mergansers, I love how the babies hop on the back and then mom dives to clear the deck.
The swan was chasing all those babies with ill intent. I tried to stop him by throwing rocks at the swan to distract him, he didn’t finch nor stop in his murderous attempt – in the end he didn’t get a gosling today luckily. Our neighbor showered him with rocks and 3 geese would run at him, I must say he is both determined and fearless. And this is not always a good thing.
