The basin – a rare optical illusion
Several times a year, when the sun is just right in the sky with a light layer of mist on the water, the island in the middle of the basin of water pops. It really pops, so much so that it seems that you can reach it with a short wade in the water. Yet it is over a kilometer away.
And the closer one gets to the beach, th the farther away it is.
I was able to capture this illusion yesterday.
Life is a gift. Open your eyes and the magic of our world unfolds. 🙏

the basin – wildly windy and cold

the basin – day 341
the basin – day 188

with the changing of the seasons and more night than day, it is time to shift from an early morning shot to one from the day before – this thing called work would coincide with the rising of the sun each day in these darker months, so this is the answer. oh, i may even babble on a bit because i have more time in the evening than in the morning.
i like what i do for my paid work. it is ensuring that the program i am testing has all bits working – i catch most of them and the world keeps changing, so they change the parameters of the program and i keep on working. its great, a job where i worked from home long before the pandemic crippled our cultures.
so many are now finding that they can work from home. some days are nuts like when hubby runs the vacuum while you are still in a meeting – few and far between but it happens on occasion. luckily the fish stay in the tank and do not photobomb the meetings either. don’t chew their heads off if they do, go for a walk instead even if it just to the coffee machine and back.
take care and thanks for dropping by

the basin – day 179

the skies are beginning to clear though the smoke is still very strong. it tastes horrible and sticks to everything. venturing outside can only be for short excursions. the blue of the sky popped through yesterday and that was lovely.
the two pictures below are both from Sept this year and are both looking in the same direction as this mornings photo. such a difference.
