Time
the basin – day 706 – radiant
the basin – day 705 – a new day, new hope
the basin – day 704 – winters cold winds are a joy for the gulls
the basin – day 703 – winters last bash (we hope!)
the basin – day 702 – calm
the basin – day 701 – overcast with a touch of winter
the basin – day 700 – a new day
the basin – day 699.5 – fumbling towards the end game

The full moon over the basin last night. I stood under the watchful gaze of the moon as the clouds darted across the night sky.
Our world is beautiful. I happen to live in a developing community that is growing into these hills. Every year new lights dot the hills in the darkness of night. More souls, more lights, more opportunities of friendship, love, conflict, birth and death. It is the way of our humanity.
This Covid-19 pandemic has touched all of us. Deeply. No one asked for this, it just happened. At the beginning it was easy to follow the public orders and mandates. It was a scary time. It still is as we reach the ending of this unwanted pest. No matter how we move forward from here, this day, we will always have choices. This is our humanity in progress.
Our choices may or may not be in line with those around us – this can create conflict if we chose to be belligerent and bullish about it. ‘It’ is anything you want or need it to be. Time is usually our friend in these matters as overall, as they are small and personal choices, and fade in meaning and magnitude as time moves on. It is the way of our humanity.
702 days ago Canada went into lock down as this pest moved with rocket speed into our communities. All of our lives have been changed forever as we have all been touched within this pandemic. Health, mental health, communications, movement, shopping, gatherings, have all suffered and mutated with this virus. We, as a collective humanity, had no living memory of how to deal with pandemics and all that it entails. So we fumbled here and there as this game of living progressed. Mostly, with clear minds and good health literacy, we moved forward in change. And though it was restrictive, we found ways, our way. It is the way of our humanity.
So, here we are fumbling towards the end. A bit more patience please. Yes, we still have restrictions but we still have a virus propagating towards a new version of it’s self – it is the way of every living thing.
I once saw a Facebook post asking “What would you take away from our world to make it a better place?” My answer was “Anger”. Our humanity is boiling with it. I lived my youth in anger, mostly others anger but it was what i learned to portray. Every time i used anger, my life got a bit worse. I learned to control my anger and then even laugh at it. It no longer has any power over me. And i am prospering without anger.
I have learned that when anger is presented as a first in a conversation, there is no need to continue in this conversation. Anger feeds on it’s self and as such can not be part of reason in a conversation. So, anger is not a reason for conversation. Once we are past anger (emotion), then we can converse and make meaning full changes in our conversation and in our humanity. Anger is a symptom and not a cause onto its self. It can move humanity towards change yet only when the anger has been taken off the table.
Force to change is not real change. Just a means to an end. And truly, the force just renames the venues and in the end only the names have changed. That which instigated the force, the anger, is still lying in wait and will once again move humanity through the process with new names and the same old problems. It is the way of our humanity.
Soon, spring and then summer will open our hearts, our hearths and our inspirations with the melting of the restrictions that the virus brought. We are so close, let us not fumble once again and patiently bide our time with planning of new gatherings, new loves, new life amongst the end game of the pandemic.
Be kind, stay safe and be well. It is all one can really ask for. Thanks for dropping by.
