the basin – day 500

gulls under the smokeless fog
searching for the best breakfast place

day 500. 1 year, 4 and a half months. This is since Canada locked down to temper an unseen enemy.

bewilderment and bereavement, lose and sorrow have filled so many of days, to be untouched

a grey day and a somber mood like so many others

move forward, a bit at a time, with a smile and kindness

it has not been easy, yet I have had it easier than most. yet I mourn the losses of life and how we now live

I have learned to celebrate the simple things, a flower, a smile, a sliver of memory of yesteryear,

can we ever return to what we once were? no, we have been changed by the collective sorrow, the collective anger, the collective

are we changing? must we change? what is changing? certainly all life is about change and change we must

move forward with kindness, move with an open mind for movement is change

life is never the same after change, acceptance here helps

be kind, be safe, be well

  1. So beautiful, what you wrote. I drove 3 days on smoke-covered highways, just to give you an idea of scope. So many places closed due to this, the heat wave and the pandemic combined. Oh, Canada! ☹️
